CLASSES FOR CHILDREN

Theatre Arts Classes, Winter 2011-2012
PLEASE DO NOT REGISTER for a class marked "Regular Attendance Required" without reading this note! These classes are designed to afford interested students the exciting experience of rehearsing a piece from start to finish and performing it for a live audience. For these classes to succeed, regular attendance by all students is absolutely crucial. This promotes an understanding of individual responsibility, fosters group ensemble, and provides the necessary continuity in rehearsal. Please check your schedules carefully for conflicts before signing up for classes so indicated. Should a conflict arise, call the office immediately.

January 3, 10, 17, 24, 31, February 7, 14, 28, March 6, 13. **There will be no class on February 21.
STORY THEATRE
3–5 Years
Joey (Joanne) Talbert
Young people will use their imagination and focus their energy while bringing stories to life. Role playing, songs, movement and theatre games will be used to make this early theatre experience both exciting and educational. Limit 8 students.
Tuesdays 1:45–2:30pm, January 3rd - March 13th (no class on February 21st)

TELL ME A TALE OR TWO
Ages 4-6 Instructor Joey (Joanne) Talbert
If you love animals, join us to act out critter tales of all sizes, shapes and colors.....cat tails, bunny tails, monkey tails and more! We will explore the special nature of creatures and learn how to bring them to life on stage in fun and entertaining ways. Limit 8 students.
Tuesdays 2:40-3:30, January 3rd - March 13th (no class on February 21st)
$140 ($126 members)
SHOWTIME
Grades 1–3
Instructor: Joey (Joanne) Talbert
Students will be guided through the exciting process of play-making in a safe environment that encourages ensemble work. The class will use simple scripts or improvised dialogue to create and rehearse a play to be performed for family members during the last class. Limit 10 students.

January 6, 13, 20, 27, February 3, 10, 17, March 2, 9, 16. **There will be no class February 24.
MUSICAL THEATRE
Grades 3-5
Students will be involved in the process of creating a mini musical using stories such as fairy tales and folk tales together with songs. The class will use simple scripts or improvise dialogue and students will be coached in acting, singing and the staging of the musical. An informal presentation will conclude the session. Regular attendance required. Limit 12 students.
Fridays 3:45-4:45, January 6th - March 16th (No class on February 24th)
$150 (members $135)
PERFORMANCE WORKSHOP
Grades 5-7
Emphasis is on developing successful presentation skills. Experience singing, dancing, and acting while learning the process and development of characters. Focus on collaboration and ensemble work as well as audition technique. An informal presentation will conclude the session. Regular attendance required. Limit 15 students.
Fridays 4:45 -5:45; January 6th - March 16th (No class on February 24th)
$150 (members $135)
