Theatre Arts Classes, Winter 2011

PLEASE DO NOT REGISTER for a class marked "Regular Attendance Required" without reading this note! These classes are designed to afford interested students the exciting experience of rehearsing a piece from start to finish and performing it for a live audience. For these classes to succeed, regular attendance by all students is absolutely crucial. This promotes an understanding of individual responsibility, fosters group ensemble, and provides the necessary continuity in rehearsal. Please check your schedules carefully for conflicts before signing up for classes so indicated. Should a conflict arise, call the office immediately.

PROPS, PROPS AND MORE PROPS
Grades 6–12
You've all seen all of the fantastic props used on the stage. Well, it's not all it seems to be. The food, weapons and most other things that you see on stage are almost always created by people at CYT. Come see how to make a delicious looking cake out of polystyrene and caulking or how to make fruit from wood. Each student will create a prop to be used in one of the CYT shows.
Limit 10 Students.
NOT OFFERED FOR WINTER 2011 SESSION

STAGE COMBAT
Grades 4–12
Ryan DuBray
Ever wonder how actors can make those stage fights look so real? Shows like West Side Story, Beauty and the Beast and yes, Robin Hood, all have group "rumbles" and need to convince the audience that what is happening on stage is real. Learn how to do just that in our workshop with Ryan. This workshop is suggested for those interested or cast in Robin Hood, but all are welcome. Ryan will teach everything from a simple stage slap to hand to hand combat to working with weapons.
Limit 15 Students.
NOT OFFERED FOR WINTER 2011 SESSION
